How Personal Stylists Can Add Made-to-Measure Suits — and a New Revenue Stream

Personal stylists already have the client relationships. Here's how to convert those relationships into recurring suit revenue without becoming a tailor.

The revenue gap most stylists don’t talk about

Personal stylists typically earn from consultation fees, retainers, and commissions on purchases they facilitate. What many don’t capture is the single most high-value item in a man’s wardrobe: his suit.

Recommending a client to a tailor generates goodwill. Offering the suit yourself — under your name, through a manufacturing partner who stays invisible — generates margin.

What the service looks like to your client

You take their measurements during a session. You discuss fabric (we’ll send you swatches). You confirm the details — lapel, buttons, lining, monogram. They pay you. You place the order. Three weeks later a suit arrives at their door with your label inside.

From your client’s perspective: they got a bespoke suit from their personal stylist. From your perspective: you earned 75–80% margin on a transaction you would have previously referred elsewhere.

The fabrics that make it easy to sell

Your clients may not know construction terminology, but they will recognise names. Showing a client a genuine Loro Piana cloth — “This is what the jacket will be made in” — does more to close a high-end order than any sales technique.

We stock:

  • Loro Piana — the world’s finest fleece, from €414 ex-works for a 2-piece
  • Ermenegildo Zegna — Trofeo certified cloth, from €414 ex-works
  • British Legacy — UK mill fabric, from €165 ex-works
  • Tailor’s Choice — premium 70% wool, from €127 ex-works

The choice of fabric determines the positioning. You know your client’s budget. We help you match the right product.

Setting your price

There is no rule. You know what your clients will pay.

Many stylists position MTM suits at €500–1,500 depending on the fabric tier and client profile. At €108 ex-works (Classic) or €254 ex-works (British Legacy Full Canvas), the margin at nearly any price point you choose is meaningful.
