What a shop specifies on each tuxedo
A tuxedo is a suit with a handful of decisions that define it. These go on the order.
Lapel
Peak and shawl are the traditional black tie lapels. Peak is sharper; shawl is a continuous rounded collar with a softer dinner jacket feel. Notch is the everyday suit lapel and reads as the least formal.
Facing
Satin is smooth with a visible sheen; grosgrain is finely ribbed and matte. The same facing covers the buttons and runs down the trouser as braid, so it is chosen once.
Single or double breasted
One-button single breasted is the standard. Double breasted, usually with peak lapels, is more formal and puts more weight on the chest and waist measurements.
Trousers
A stripe of the facing down each outside seam, no belt loops, and side adjusters or brace buttons specified on the order.
Cloth
Black or midnight navy, from 33 mills and cloth merchants, 26 of them in Europe. You choose from a digital swatch book, with swatches posted on request.
Construction
Fused, half canvas or full canvas, the same choice as on any suit.
Jacquard dinner jackets and jacquard blazers
A jacquard dinner jacket is an evening jacket cut from cloth with the pattern woven in rather than printed: a brocade figure, a tonal paisley, a metallic thread that catches the light. Worn with black tuxedo trousers, it gives a groom, or the host of an evening event, a jacket that stands apart from the rest of the party. A jacquard blazer is the same idea for a less formal evening, worn with plain trousers.
For a custom shop, jacquard pieces do two jobs. They fill a gap on the rail for weddings and winter events. And they are exactly the kind of piece that is hard to stock: a bold pattern bought in a size run sits unsold if the one customer who wanted it is a size you did not buy. Measure the groom and his party at the first appointment, not in the last month. A wedding date is known long before the day.

Each person is one order. A late groomsman is a normal order in the same specification, because the minimum is one piece.

Set the fitting date from the confirmation date, plus production, plus your shipping time, plus a margin of your own.

The party comes back to you for the fitting. Notes go back to us for the next order.
Price basis
Our public starting prices per two-piece suit, ex works Shanghai, are CMT with your cloth from USD 100, full make from USD 155 and half canvas full make from USD 185, with shipping extra and import duty paid by the buyer. A tuxedo is quoted against its specification, because the facing, covered buttons and trouser braid are part of the order. Full canvas is quoted by specification.
