Full canvas: what it actually means

Full canvas construction means the entire front of the jacket — from shoulder to hem — is hand-stitched to a floating horsehair canvas. There is no adhesive bonding the chest piece to the fabric. The suit moves with the body from the first wearing and, over months and years, molds to the wearer’s specific posture and proportion.

This is what people mean when they say a suit “gets better with age.” Fused suits don’t do this. Half canvas suits do it partially. Full canvas does it completely.

Our full canvas construction is done by hand by tailors who have been doing this work for 25+ years. The floating chest piece is properly padstitched. The lapel roll is natural. The shoulder construction is clean.

The price reality in 2026

British Legacy full canvas: €254 ex-works.

A comparable full canvas suit from a European manufacturer — assuming you can find one offering MTM at no minimum — starts at €500–800 ex-works. Usually more.

Our cost base is in Shanghai. Our fabric base is in Europe — VBC, Loro Piana, Zegna, Holland & Sherry, all held in stock in our warehouse. The combination is what makes the pricing possible.
